Former Minister DK Shiva Kumar was instrumental in the establishment of Congress-JD (S) Government in Karnataka. He was the one who prevented horse-trading by shifting MLAs to the resort & also to Hyderabad. Siva Kumar had even took care of Congress MLAs in the same manner when CM Vilasrao Deshmukh Government was on the verge of collapse in 2002. When Amit Shah conspired to defeat Sonia's Political Advisor Ahmed Patel during the Rajya Sabha Polls in Gujarat, Shiva Kumar protected the Congress MLAs from horse-trading of BJP. This is why he is known to be trouble-shooter in the Congress. And now, Party High Command decided to use his services ahead of the Telangana Assembly Polls.
As many as 40 Congress Rebels have already filed their nominations after the denial of tickets for the upcoming Assembly Polls. Few more Leaders are expected to join the race by Monday. Rebels pose a huge threat to the poll prospects of Mahakutami in Telangana.
Congress Leadership formed a 3-member committee constituting of Puducherry CM K Narayana Swamy, former Ministers DK Siva Kumar and Malladi Krishna Rao. They are holding discussions with Rebels to make them withdraw the nominations. The role of Shiva Kumar, who owns assets worth Rs 730 crore, is very crucial in this exercise.
