There has been a long debate about the US Visa Diversity Program ever since, Trump took office as US President. One of his campaign promises is to eliminate the existing flawed system and replace it with an affect one.
This US Visa Diversity program allots Green Cards to 50,000 individuals and countries that are economically backward than US get 7% for each and the individuals are selected based on lottery system.
Due to this random individuals are selected among the applicants and many have to wait for years together by renewing their Work Visas and hope their name would pop up, the next year or marry locales.
But with new Trump proposal, the lottery system will be replaced with a point based system and the immigrants will have to qualify and acquire required points to be selected and awarded the Green Card.
"Eliminate lottery and reallocate the visas to reduce the family-based 'backlog' and high-skilled employment 'backlog'," said an official statement from the White House.
Well, the proposal has to be passed by US Congress to become a law and if it becomes a law, it will help many immigration aspirants from India and the people in US from Indian ethnicity to acquire the Green Cards once their prove their skill and are qualified!
