Doubts persist over KCRs mega job recruitment drive

KCR's dandy announcement of over 91000 job vacancies is now the hottest topic in Telangana. The announcement came days before Ugadai and is sure to bring relief to the harried unemployed youth of the state, who have been waiting for over 8 years for this announcement. Initially, a notification was released for 80000 posts.

The TRS cadres across the state performed abhishekams to KCR's images with milk. They celebrated this as a historic and seminal event. The TRS would not go to the town with his mega announcement. This announcement is sure to take the wind out of the sails of the opposition parties in the state.

However, the fine print and the conditionalities have a different tale to tell. For instance, the age limit for applying for these jobs has been increased to 44 years for the OCs, 49 for the SC, ST and the BCs and 54 for the differently abled. This hike is being termed ridiculous by the critics.

For instance, if someone lands in a job at 54, how long can he work? He has to superannuate at 62. This means he would be in a job for just eight years. KCR has also announced that 95 per cent of the jobs are for the locals only.

Only 5 per cent are in the open quota. This is against the principle of natural justice and this decision could land the government in court cases.

The biggest question is if there are 1.91 lakh vacancies, why notification is issued only for 91000 jobs. Also, the government is yet to announce the timeframe for filling these jobs.
