DGCI Gives Its Nod To Test Russias Sputnik V Vaccine On 100 Indian Volunteers

Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's which inked a deal with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) to distribute 100 million Covid-19 vaccines in India is gearing up for a big move in this regard. ‘

It has been widely reported that the Drug Controller General (DCGI) gave its nod to test Russian flagship Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V on 100 Indian volunteers.

Dr. Reddy's lab which is currently conducting the second phase of clinical trials is expected to test the vaccine on 100 volunteers in the third phase of clinical trials of the vaccine.

Reportedly, no side effects were detected in the first and second stages of the clinical trials. This is what giving hope for the third phase of the clinical stages that the vaccine can be rolled out soon.

The Sputnik V vaccine is apparently the first vaccine candidate in the world to register to fight the novel Coronavirus. The Russian Ministry of Health has registered the vaccine. However, the WHO didn't recognize it officially.

The Sputnik V which has been developed by RDIF and the Gamaleya National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology is expected to fight the virus by boosting immunity.
