Ahead of the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), IPL Governing Council which looked for new IPL Sponsorship post backlash of continuing Chinese company Vivo as sponsor announced new sponsor.

Former Indian Cricketer, IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel announced Indian gaming company Dream 11 as the new IPL Sponsorship.

Despite facing tough competition for the sponsorship from Unacademy, Tata Sons, Patanjali, Reliance Jio and BYJU Dream 11 managed to bag the sponsorship rights.

News Agency Press Trust of India(PTI) quoted Brijesh Kumar as saying, Dream 11 made a bid of Rs 222 crore and won the rights to sponsorship.

According to some media reports, Tata Sons made a bid with Rs 180 crore and Online tutoring firm BYJU quoted a bid with Rs 150 crore. Dream 11 bagged the rights for sponsorships by quoting the highest amount of among the bidders.

The 13th edition of IPL will be held at UAE which marks the second instance where the tournament is played in the country. The inaugural match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
