Drones To Come In Handy In Delivering Covid Vaccines To Remote Areas

Governments are facing an issue with supplying the Covdi-19 vaccine to people, who reside in remote areas and regions that are hard to reach. To beat the obstacle, the union government is planning to use the technology.
It is said that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has invited bids to deliver the Covid medicines by the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The bids will be closed by the 22nd of this month.
HLL Infra Tech Services Limited, which will look after the delivery of the medicines specified that the UAVs should cover a distance of 35 km and a vertical altitude of a minimum of 100 metres. In addition to this, the vehicles should be able to hold a load of 4 kg and should return back to the base.
It is said that the arrangements made with the parties to deliver the medicines will be valid for three months. The agreements will be extended taking the performance of UAV operators into consideration.
The Centre focused on the aerial supply of the medicine after the IIT-Kanpur in collaboration with the ICMR conducted a feasibility study of Covid-19 vaccine delivery after seeking permission from the ministry of civil aviation (MoCA) and directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA).
