Andhra Pradesh Department of Transport has submitted the report on road safety violations in six months, between April- September to the Supreme Court committee on road safety

In the report, the department said, over the six months, only a mere three drunk and drive cases were registered and credited the measures taken by the state government to control liquor consumption.

The count of drunk and drive cases have come down severely compared to the previous year. In 2019, between April and September, more than 2,00 cases were reported.

The rules imposed by the state government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy like restricting the liquor sales till 8 PM and taking steps to see that liquor is not made available after 8 PM played a crucial role in cut shorting the cases.

During April-September, 2020, as many as 3,829 motorists were booked for driving vehicles without driving vehicles. Violators who were booked for th second time will be sent to jail, the report said.
