Dubbaka Bypoll: Popular TV Host Kathi Karthika Failed To Get Deposit Votes
By: Tupaki Desk | 11 Nov 2020 10:41 AM ISTTelevision host Kathi Karthika who shot to fame with Telugu Bigg Boss season one hosted by Jr. NTR has contested the Dubbaka by-election. But she failed to create an impact in the poll.
All her efforts went in vain as she managed to win a mere less than 1000 votes in the election. The anchor barely managed to win 636 votes, which is just 100 more than the votes polled under NOTA.
Even after contesting the by-election from the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) party ticket, Karthika failed to get deposits in the much anticipated Dubbaka by-polls. To everyones surprise, independent candidates got more votes than the anchor.
Karthika had contested in Dubbaka from All India Forward Bloc (AIFB), a left-wing nationalist political party that has strength in West Bengal.
The AIFB is a left ideologist party that enjoys a good hold in West Bengal. The party established by patriotic hero Subhash Chandra Bose in 1939, re-established itself as an independent political party post-independence.
Well, Karthikas deficit in the by-poll is an indication to the political aspirations from the glamour industry that their image will not fetch them votes in the elections.
In the by-polls, Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) candidate Raghunandan Rao emerged victoriously by crushing TRS candidate S Sujatha with a margin of 1118 votes. The BJP and TRS candidates got 63,352 and 62,273 votes respectively.
