MOM spacecraft had sent its images of the planet. According to reports India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) has sent a picture of regional dust storm activities over the northern hemisphere of the red planet.It said the image was taken from an altitude of 74,500km from the surface of Mars.

“Regional dust storm activities over northern hemisphere of Mars captured by Mars Color Camera ” Isro said on its official Facebook page with a picture.

The main aim of MOM is to study the Martian surface and scan the atmosphere for Methane, which is an indicator of life. The spacecraft is equipped with five instruments- a colour camera, a sensor to track methane or marsh gas, and a thermal-imaging spectrometer to map the surface and mineral wealth of the planet

Mars Colour Camera (MCC), a tri-colour camera that is meant to give images and information about the surface features and composition of the planet. The MOM had sent its first images of the planet on Thursday.
