Chief Electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi responded seriously over the deletion of voters in Andhra Pradesh. Strict orders have been passed to the AP Police to investigate and file criminal cases against those involved in the wrong practice.

Form-7 Applications were moved by anonymous people to delete the names of existing voters, who are sympathisers of Opposition Parties, from the voter list. This trend is continuing in most of the 13 districts in the state.

Election Commission directed AP Police to book as many as 45 cases under relevant sections. The list include 14 cases in East Godavari, 8 cases each in Visakha and Kurnool, 4 cases in Prakasam, 3 cases each in Chittoor, Krishna and Srikakulam, 1 case each in Guntur and Anantapur. Cases will be filed under Sections 120B, 419, 420, 465, 471 of IPC, Section 66, 66D of IT Act and Section 31 of RP Act 1950.

Election Commission begun tracking IP Addresses of the devices, from which Form-7 Applications were submitted online for deletion of valid votes, through Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.
