The Election Commission of India had issued the notification for the by-election in Badvel Assembly Constituency. Keeping the Covid fear in mind, the election authorities have imposed a few restrictions for the campaign activities and directed the political outfits to follow the guidelines.

In the guidelines issued, the Election Commission said that the Volunteers should be made involved in the election activities. Besides this, the chief election body had also announced a cap on the limit of people who will take part in the campaign work.

The Election Commission said that not more than five people can participate in the house-to-house campaign, while the bike rally and other rallies were not allowed in the wake of the Covid spread.

On top of this, the political parties were also directed that at the time of filing the nomination only one person can accompany the contestant to the Election office. Coming to the election meetings, a cop of 1,000 and 50 for the strength was fixed for public meetings and meetings on the roads respectively.

The by-election in Badvel became unstoppable after the serving MLA G Venkata Subbaiah breathed his last in March last year. The YSRCP leader passed away at the hospital facility while undergoing treatment due to his ill health.

As the constituency is the sitting position for the ruling YSRCP, the Andhra Pradesh government wants to claim the elections, that too with a stunning majority. The YSRCP party had already started the preparation for the election with the leaders calling the cadre to work for the party's win.

YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy, who represents the Kadapa Constituency held a meeting with the party leaders at the party office in Porumamilla town. He had called the party workers and supporters to work for the party win in the forthcoming elections.

The MP said that the ruling party should see a big victory in the by-election and the majority in the by-election should be higher than the Tirupati by-election. He said that the political parties in the state, Telugu Desam Party(TDP), Janasena, and Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) are trying to defame the Chief Minister by spreading fake and false news.
