Battle For Balconda Turns Interesting

Balconda is a non-descript constituency in Nizamabad. Tucked away in one corner, not much is known about the political turf wars in the constituency. But, this time around, there is a keen tussle about who would become TRS candidate and who would represent the Congress.
The constituency is currently represented by Vemula Prasanth Reddy of the TRS. He is hoping for re-nomination. But, there is lot of discontentment about his working style and many party workers do not want him. Meanwhile, transport baron Sunil Reddy is also trying for the TRS ticket. He has been trying his luck. Both the candidates are mobilizing their ranks and are marshaling their resources and want to go whole hog only after the party's candidate is decided.
If this is the situation in the TRS, it is no less different in the Congress. Anil, who was the MLA in 2009, is trying for the party ticket. He hopes that the BC voters will back him. Anil had won on the Praja Rajyam ticket, but later joined the Congress after the PRP merged with the latter. But, he has stiff competition from former speaker of the AP Assembly D Suresh Reddy. Suresh Reddy, arguably the senior most Congress leader of the party after DS left in 2015, has been a four-time MLA from Balkonda. In 2009, he shifted to Armoor and lost the election. He again tried his luck in 2014. He failed to win again.
So, all the four major contenders are preparing for the Balkonda battle. But, each one is waiting till the tickets are distributed to begin the real battle.
