In the light of Covid fear, the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) has decided to host the remaining matches of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL) in the Arab country United Arab Emirates(UAE).

The governing council confirmed the same and the announcement was made official. The tournament is likely to be held in September and October. However, the schedule and match dates for the remainder of IPL are awaited.

Now media reports claim that, unlike the previous edition of the game, spectators would be allowed for the matches in stadiums in UAE. However, only the vaccinated individuals would be allowed reportedly.

On the other hand, it is also said that the matches would be held with 50 percent occupancy in the stadiums. Talks are underway to take a call on this. Once the officials come to a conclusion on this, the official statement will be made.

It has to be noted that, the previous edition was also held in UAE as Covid situations in India were not in favour of holding matches in India. The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) didn't allow spectators to the stadium last year, so that the virus won't spread further.

Coming to the 2021 edition of the IPL, the tournament was suspended in May after a handful of players and staff had come in contact with the deadly virus. 31 matches will be played in the remaining tournament of IPL 2021.
