For the first time in the history of Andhra Pradesh, even the Municipality and other urban local body polls are observed closely by one and all. The political parties have also taken the elections prestigiously and not leaving any stone unturned to win the elections. The recent development shows how intense the Municipal elections are in the state.

The intensity surrounding the Kondapalli municipality elections was so high that the Andhra Pradesh High Court was involved. Going by the court orders, the elections to elect the chairperson and vice-chairperson for the municipality were held finally, putting an end to the long suspense.

While directing the concerned officials to conduct the elections for the Municipality, the High Court also directed the officials to not announce the names of the candidates who had won the posts. With the same orders, there is no official word from the authorities on this.

The opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) had won both Chairman and vice-chairman positions after several twists and turns. Despite winning the positions, the announcement would be made after the High Court gives a green signal for the same. TDP MP Kesineni Nani had moved the court on the issue which is pending with the court.

Objecting to not being allowed to cast his vote in the Municipal polls as an ex-officio member, Kesineni Nani had knocked on the doors of the court. Hearing his petition, the Court opened doors for him to exercise his right to vote. As per the court rights, the result will be out after he casts his vote.

Making the Kondapalli Municipality interesting, TDP and YSRCP have equal seats. The ruling party and opposition have emerged victorious in fourteen wards respectively. As another twist, one TDP rebel had suddenly changed her mind and decided to join the TDP.

TDP and YSRCP vote count reached 15 each after YSRCP MLA Vasantha Krishna had voted in favour of the ruling party. When everyone thought that the ruling party would win the Municipality, TDP MP Kesineni Nani showed up. As he was provided a chance to cast his vote, he will vote for his party for sure. With his vote, Telugu Desam Party will be in a strong position with a mere one vote.
