End Of The Story For Congress Party?
X
Will it be swansong for the Congress in Telangana? Post the graduate MLC elections, this question is increasingly being asked. The Congress came a poor fourth in Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar constituency, while it stood fifth in Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda seat. The shocking part is that both Khammam and Nalgonda are considered Congress strongholds and the party has several key leaders in these two districts.

Yet, both Chinna Reddy and Ramulu Naik fared very poorly. While independents Teenmaar Mallanna and Prof. Kodandaram stood second and third in Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituency, the Congress got just around 30000 votes and stood behind BJP's Premender Reddy. The election results have shown that the Congress has completely lost the plot and the voters do not seem to recognize it as an opposition to the ruling TRS. The Congress Party is now worried that this poor performance could reflect on it even in Nagarjunasagar bypolls. There are going to be municipal corporation elections in both Warangal and Khammam. Even there, the party may end up losing its support base.

Khammam has leaders like Mallu Ravi and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, while Nalgonda has leaders like Uttam Reddy and Komatireddy brothers. Despite these leaders, the party has done very badly. At no stage during the counting did the Congress show signs of revival. Even the diehard Congress supporters are now worried about the party's future in Telangana.
