In a massive revelation, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, known for his philanthropist works, announced that he is parting ways with his wife Melinda Gates, ending 27 years of marriage.
Bill Gates announced parting ways with his wife in a post on the microblogging site Twitter. We have taken the decision to end our marriage after working a lot on our relationship and a great deal of thought, Mr. Gates said in his post.
Ruling out the rumors of Melinda bidding goodbye to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a spokesperson said Bill Gates and Melinda will continue to exercise their duties as co-chairman and trustees of the foundation.
As of now, no changes in their roles in the foundation were planned. To shape the strategies of the foundation and advocate for the issues and foundations to set a tone for the organisation's direction, the spokesperson said.
The couple has been involved in philanthropic works for so long through their Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. To fight against the pandemic, the foundation has donated more than $50 billion.
The divorce of Gates and Melinda will be the costliest divorce in the world after the divorce of Jeff Bezos and MacKenzie Scott. After the duo parted ways, MacKenzie went on to become one of the richest people in the world.
