There seems to be an unusual rush in the Maharashtra Congress for the posts of PCC chief. There are many claimants for the post. Now that the party is in power, many leaders are vying for the PCC chief's role. Former CM and former PCC chief Ashok Chawan has even written to Sonia Gandhi demanding that he be given the PCC chief's post. Even in the Mumbai region, there is a mad rush for the PCC chief post. With the elections of the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation round the corner, key leaders like Amarjeet Manhas, former chief Milind Deora are vying for the post. In addition, leaders like Bhai Jagtap, Charanjeet Singh Sapra, Suresh Vetti and Naseem Khan have thrown their hands into the ring. Supporters of Charanjeet have met senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and demanded that Charanjeet be made the party's Mumbai unit chief.
The Congress has three PCCs – one each for Maharashtra, Mumbai and Nagpur. The leaders of all these PCC have resigned their posts after the Modi Juggernaut mowed down the Congress in 2019 elections.
