Ex-deputy CM faces trouble from within on home turf

He was the deputy chief minister during the Chandrababu regime and has always been known to be a loyal soldier of the TDP boss. He has weathered many a storm and stood by his party. But will the party and its cadre stand by him in the upcoming assembly elections of 2024?
Yes. We are talking of Nimmakayala China Rajappa. He currently represents Peddapuram assembly constituency and has won twice. He has managed to win despite the severe anti-incumbency in the 2019 elections. This time around too, Chandrababu Naidu has announced that China Rajappa will be the party candidate from Peddapuram.
However, at the ground level in the constituency, there is severe opposition from several quarters. There are some allegations of corruption against the MLA and ironically, they are coming from the TDP activists themselves. To add to this, there is also dissidence against China Rajappa. At least two candidates are vying for the party ticket in the 2024 elections.
One of them is Boddu Venkata Ramana. He is the son of former TDP heavyweight Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao. The other dissident is Gunnam Chandramouli. Both are trying hard to get the party ticket. There are indications that these two leaders could ensure the defeat of China Rajappa if he gets the party's ticket again. It remains to be seen how things pan out in Peddapuram constituency.
