Ex-TDP leaders have more weightage in TRS?

Many loyal TRS leaders, who were with the party through the thick and thin and courted arrests during the Telangana agitation, are now seething with rage. The reason? A rank outsider who had joined the party only a few years ago and who had all along rooted for a united AP, will now become the mayor if the TRS wins the municipal corporation election.

The TRS has reportedly decided to make Gundu Sudharani the mayoral candidate. Gundu Sudharani was a TDP politburo member and was considered quite close to Chandrababu Naidu. She has no record of participating in the Telangana agitation. She is known to be a camp follower of minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, who is now made the incharge of the civic polls by the TRS top brass. Sudharani was TDP Rajya Sabha member too. She joined the TRS only in 2016.

With her name propping up, senior leader Nagula Venkateshwarlu, who has been associated with the TRS from the beginning, is thoroughly disillusioned. Nagula was assured the mayor's post and had worked hard all these years to strengthen the party. Sources also reveal that he had already spent a huge amount so far. Similarly, Warangal district Telangana Jagruthi president and senior MLA Dasyam Vinayabhaskar's brother Vijayabhaskar too had tried hard for the mayoral position. But, now he and his supporters are left disappointed.
