India's great Sachin Tendulkar is often regarded as one of the greatest to have ever played the game. In his illustrious career that had lasted for more than two decades, he made many records that are unbreakable by any batsman. He had inspired a few generations to take up the sport.

Out of his records, a century of centuries remains highlighted. Exactly on this day ten years ago, Sachin Tendulkar made a massive record of scoring 100 centuries, making him the one and only player to do so. It's been a decade for the record, but no player came close to that.

Back in 2012, when India and Bangladesh locked horns with each other in the Asia Cup, in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, Sachin scored a ton. Taking on the opponent bowlers, Sachin scored as many as 114 runs. Despite India losing the early wickets, Tendulkar made crucial partnerships with Run Machine Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina helping India to score 289 for the loss of five.

God of Cricket's historic century was not a memorable inning for him as India lost the match to Bangladesh. His fighting knock went in vain with Bangladesh winning the match.

After entering the record books as one of the batsmen to have an unmatchable technique, Sachin Tendulkar called it quits from the 50-over format in the same year. He bid goodbye to the format with highly impressive stats of 18,426 runs and 49 tons.

A year later, Sachin Tendulkar had retired from international cricket. His home ground Wankhede hosted his farewell match. He received Guard of Honours from players of both teams. Sachin's mother went to the stadium to watch her son play for the country. This is the first and last time she saw her son play.

The historic 1983 World Cup win of Men In Blue had a big impact on young Sachin Tendulkar that pushed him to take up the sport. He had appeared in as many as six world cup tournaments and the luck shined on him brightly in his last world cup appearance in 2011 and India lifted the world cup.
