Excise Department Pushing Accused in Tollywood Case to Safety?

The sensational and much-talked-about Drugs Case will go down as one of the dark episodes in the Tollywood industry. Several members of the industry were named as the accused in the case who were grilled by the officials. The issue even made its way to the Telangana High Court as well.

Giving a new path to the case, the Enforcement Directorate is said to have moved the High Court against the Chief Secretary and Telangana Excise Department Director for not cooperating with them in dealing with the case.

Media reports say that a contempt of court petition was filed against them on the grounds of not following the court orders and not handing over the information and evidence related to the case. Expressing dissatisfaction on this, the Enforcement Directorate sought action against them.

It has been widely reported that the Enforcement Directorate in its petition had said that lack of evidence and information is leaving a toll on the progress in the case and hence the case is not moving forward.

It has to be noted here that the High Court had earlier directed the Excise Department to hand over the digital data of the accused and evidence to the ED. It's been more than one month since the directives were issued. However, the excise department failed to follow the instruction reportedly.

The Enforcement Directorate had stepped in to probe the matter to look after possible money laundering angle as a drug dealer had reportedly admitted the same. However, there is no coordination from the department.

The behavior of the Excise Department in this particular case is giving birth to various doubts. The department had given a clean chit to the accused saying that no evidence to probe their wrongdoings was found. The department told the same to the court.

The department's non-cooperation with the Enforcement Department and non-submission of the pieces of evidence and data despite the High Court order to do so also raised doubt if the department is helping the industry and wants to push them to safety. All the developments say the same. We have to wait and see what the CS and Excise Department tells the court in response.
