The long demand for Kapu reservation is in the news yet again after a veteran politician reportedly gave an ultimatum to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister to take a call on reservation for the Kapus or else he shall start a Deeksha for the demand of granting reservation for the Kapus.

Ace politician Chegondi Venkata Harirama Jogaiah who earlier served as an MLA and Cabinet Minister reportedly gave a deadline to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to decide on the reservations by the 31st of this month or else he shall sit for a Nirahara Deeksha from the 2nd of January.

The Kapu leaders are talking about the reservation after the Union Government said in the Parliament that the state government can give a quota for a community and that it need not require permission from the Centre. Responding to a question raised by BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao, Social justice and empowerment minister Pratima Bhoumik said this.

The Union Cabinet Minister's comments made it clear that the ball is in the Andhra Pradesh government's court and it has the power to take a call on this. Despite this, the Kapu leaders in the ruling YCP failed to raise their voices for the demand.

Amid this, Harirama Jogaiah made a deadline to the Andhra Pradesh government reportedly and he will sit for a protest if the government fails to take any call.

Once the former Minister sits for the protest, we can expect some Kapu leaders to support him and sit alongside him. Janasena might support the protest and the grand old Telugu Desam Party would also support it as it wants to win the polls at any cost.

Chegondi Venkata Harirama Jogaiah is known for his strong nature. After Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga was killed, he distanced himself from the Telugu Desam Party. Even though the party leadership requested him to not leave the party he stuck to his opinion and stayed away from the party and its activities.

So we can expect that Harirama Jogaiah would not take a back step unless the government gives a public announcement on the demand to give reservations for the Kapus.
