New Covid-19 Strain Fear: Experts Believe Vaccines Can Overpower The strains!
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Dec 2020 6:41 AM GMTMaking the year 2020 even more dangerous and fearful, three more mutants of the novel Coronavirus were detected in the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Nigeria, recently.
The new variants of Covid-19 raised many doubts on whether the Covid-19 vaccines, which are manufactured and being manufactured can tackle the new lineages of the virus or not.
Amid these fears, experts believe that though the emergence of new variants is an alarming trend, the newly authorized vaccines will take on the Coronavirus mutations that were identified recently.
Professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine, Drew Weissman opined that the vaccines can overpower the new mutations.
Adding further, Drew Weissman said, if the novel Coronavirus mutates again, the existing and the new vaccines can be reprogrammed based on the lineages of the virus.
Looking at the situation in the United Kingdom and South Africa, authorities said, the new variant of the pandemic is spreading its wing rapidly and called the situation alarming in the respective nations.
Both the lineages detected in the United Kingdom and South Africa have been transmitting the virus to others very quickly compared to the previous strain of Covid-19.
However, the authorities in Nigeria said, we cannot disclose many details now itself as the samples of the infected people have been sent for testing and the test reports are awaited.
