Father in one party and son in another One readily thinks about father Dharmapuri Srinivas being in the Congress and son Dharmapuri Aravind in the BJP. But, here's another Telangana-based father-son due, who are in different parties. The only difference is that there is a role reversal. The father is in the BJP, while the son is in the TRS.
Yes. Senior leader and former MLA Katakam Mrutyunjayam is from the undivided Karimnagar district. He was a Congress leader, who joined the TRS and later joined the BJP. He has been steadfastly with the BJP and has time and again indicated that he would die as a BJP man. However, his son Katakam Sridhar, who was till recently in the BJP, has resigned and joined the TRS in the presence of KTR.
Sridhar is the sarpanch of Gambhiraopet village in Karimnagar district. Of late, he has been facing problems from within the BJP. Exasperated, he approached the TRS for relief. Sources say vexed with the efforts aimed at pinning him down, he met KCR and expressed the desire to join the party. On Thursday, he and his supporters had joined the TRS.
AS of now there is confusion in the BJP ranks as the father is in the party, but the son has left the party and joined the TRS. Though doubts are being raised about Katakam Mruthyunjayam too jaining of the TRS, Murutyunjayam has clarified that he would steadfastly remain with the BJP. It remains to be seen what Mrutyunjayam's moves are going to be.
