By: Tupaki Desk | 1 May 2015 12:44 PM GMTFood and Drugs Administration (FDA) of Maharashtra directed cops to file an FIR against e-commerce major Snapdeal.coms CEO Kunal Bahl and the company's Directors for alleged online sale of medicines and this include prescription drugs.
As per the norms, A licensed retailer alone can sell drugs and prescription of a doctor is a must in such cases. Online sale of prescription drugs isn't permitted by the law as self medication can be harmful.
In April this year, FDA raided the premises of Snapdeal and issued a notice to the firm asking it to furnish details of the drugs put on sale. Within few days, FDA began receiving complaints about the various medicines including prescription drugs were being sold on its website. Hence, FIR has been ordered against e-commerce website's CEO and Directors.
