First Indian Woman to bag Medal at Paralympics!

Deepa Malik emerged as a first Indian Woman to win a medal at Paralympics. She bagged a Silver medal in the Shot-put F-53 event with a throw of 4.61m at the Paralympics in Rio. With this win, India's medal tally at Rip Paralympics reached three.

While Bahrain's Fatema Nedham bagged gold meal with a throw of 4.76m, Greece's Dimitra Korokida managed bronze with a throw of 4.28m.

Notably, Deepa Malik is paralyzed from waist down. She is also a wife of Army Officer and Mother of Two. She was diagnosed with Spinal Tumor and leading the life of a paraplegic since 17 years. 31 Surgeries have been performed and finally she was healed after 183 stitches from waist to legs.

A cash award of Rs 4 crore will be offered to Deepa Malik under Haryana Sports Scheme for the remarkable achievement. Some of the Prominent personalities congratulated the champion.
