Floating Covid Norms People Gather Outside Hospital In Big Numbers For Remdesivir
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 May 2021 7:39 AM GMTIn the wake of the rapid spread of Coronavirus, the Tamil Nadu government has imposed a complete lockdown for two weeks which is underway. The lockdown was imposed on May 8.
Floating the lockdown norms, people in large numbers gathered outside Government Kilpauk Medical College to see that their loved ones get the vital Remdesivir injections. To get the injections, people stood in the queue line for hours to get the injections.
Over the past few days, media reports are abuzz that there is a shortage of Remdesivir injections and fraudsters are indulging in the illegal sale of the injections. Given the soaring demand, the drug is being sold at high prices.
Family members of infected Covid patients have rushed to the state-run hospital to get the hospital from far-off places as the private facilities are reportedly charging a bomb for the drug.
A few people, who stood in the queue line are said to be tested positive for Covid. Following this, the officials are reportedly arguing with the people who stood in queue line to test themselves for the virus.
As there is a shortage in drug supply in the state, the authorities are administering the anti-viral drug in a particular timeslot in every district. The anti-viral drug will be given to patients only between 10 am and 4 pm.
To see that there will be no obstacles in the vaccination drive, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin urged Union Minister for Commerce Piyush Goyal to supply not less than 20,000 vials of Remdesivir daily.
