Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer A B Venkateshwara Rao, who once served as the intelligence chief during the regime of the previous Chandrababu Naidu government continues to attract more troubles.

Weeks after deciding to take disciplinary action against Venkateshwara Rao under Section 8 of the All-India Services Rules, 1969, the Andhra Pradesh government is said to have speeded up the process in his case reportedly.

The state government, which has been accusing Venkateshwara Rao of his alleged role in the irregularities while procuring the security equipment from an Israeli company has taken the issue seriously.

Amid these developments, the senior IPS officer has reached to the Andhra Pradesh High Court to seek anticipatory bail, claiming that the state government is trying to arrest him.

It is also said he has written to the IPS‌ Officers Association and alleged that the government is trying to harass him by taking action against him like not appointing him in any position and he is also not being paid salaries.

He requested the Association to call for an all-body so that he can prove that he is not guilty. He claimed that he has all the required pieces of evidence to prove him innocent in the alleged irregularities.

It has to be noted that after the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government came into power he was removed from the post and was suspended. He made a legal battle in the High Court and Supreme Court over his post.

Looks like his alleged role in security device procurements has costed a high price for the former IB chief.
