Foundation Stone for the prestigious Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is being laid at 10.30 AM Today (November 3rd) in Amaravati. It is the first University being set up in the capital region. AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu have attended the ceremony. A Helipad has been set up near the location for the landing and take off of choppers used by CM and Union Minister.

Special Parking arrangements have been done for the Vehicles of VIPs. Vehicles arriving to Amaravati via Thadikonda and Sakamuri from Guntur will be stopped at Ainavolu. Even vehicles from Mangalagiri, Nidamarru and Kurugallu should be stopped at the same location. Vehicles coming from Vijayawada to Secretariat in Velagapudi were allotted parking near helipad.

Huge security arrangements were done at VIT location, Helipad and the way where CM's convoy will move. Guntur Joint Collector M Venkateswara Rao, Rural SP Dr.Narayan Nayak, CRDA Officials have monitored all the arrangements done on Wednesday evening.

VIT University will begin its operations from the next academic year, starting from July 2017. Admissions to B.Tech through VIT Engineering Entrance Examination will happen in April 2017. Those who wish to obtain B.Tech seat need to appear for VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) and the application forms for it will be issued from Nov 9th. Cost of application (offline) is Rs 990 and (online) Rs 970. February 28th next year will be the last date to submit the application. The online-based VITEEE would be held from April 5th to 16th in 120 Indian cities and Abroad.

AP Government has sanctioned 200 acres for VIT in the capital region. State Government has allotted lands to SRM, Indo-UK Institute of Health, N-ID, CITD, APH RDI in Amaravati.
