Fresh Covid Cases Goes Up in India Yet Again!
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 May 2022 5:41 AM GMTThe Covid cases in India are seeing a jig jag. Cases go down for a few days and all of a sudden the cases see a big spike. Following the same spike, the single-day cases went up in the past 24 hours, and the hike in the fresh cases hints that the virus cannot be taken for granted.
India had reported close to 3,000 cases after as many as 2,897 new coronavirus infections were reported across the nation in the past 24 hours. The data shared by the Union Health Ministery says that the deadly virus has infected 4,31,10,586, people so far while close to 99 percent of patients have beaten the virus.
Talking about the active cases of the virus, there are 19,494 active cases in the country now and this translates to 0.05 percent of the total infections reported so far.
On the other hand, the casualties also went up slightly with 54 people breathing last battling the virus in the past 24 hours. With this, the total casualties rose to 5,24,157, making India one of the severely hit nations by the Covid outbreak in the world.
The vaccination drive that was started in India earlier last week is going on at a rapid pace. The drive had crossed the massive 190 crore mark recently. Not just the adults and senior citizens, but children are also being made a part of the drive. The Ministery said that beneficiaries of the 12-14 age group are also receiving vaccines in good numbers.
It has to be mentioned here, that the global health agency World Health Organization had recently contradicted the claims of India in terms of Covid deaths. While India said that 4.7 lakh people died due to Covid, the WHO came up with a report which says that the covid deaths will be ten folds higher than the official figures.
India did not remain silent and hit back saying that there is no need of using the mathematical model to calculate the deaths as accurate data is available at hand. The Union Health Ministry had said that it will not accept the way used by the WHO to estimate the deaths caused by the deadly Covid virus.
