Tamilanadu Chief Minister Amma Jayalalitha who known for taking sharp decisions yet again delivers a stunner.Jayalalitha lifts ban on wearing Tamil traditional dress dhoti and she made it as bill in State Assembly.Jaya introduced the Tamil Nadu Entry into Public Places (Removal of Restriction of Dress) Bill 2014 in the State Assembly after the spark over Dhoti issue.

Recently two senior advocates were barred from entering the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for wearing dhotis .The staff denied them permission saying wearing dhoti was violation of club's dress code.The club only allows members or guests dressed in full trousers, shirts or T-shirts with collars and leather shoes to access its premises. The judges have expressed their concern over the denial of entry and the incident had sparked widespread protests in the state.

After knowing about the incident Jaya herself described it as “sartorial despotism”. Then she assured a new legislation will be enacted during the ongoing session.

The issue had found its way to the Tamil Nadu assembly where it was brought up by DMK leader MK Stalin.Following that Jaya introduced bill on Wednesday that paves way to lift a ban on dhoti as well as other traditional dresses in recreational clubs, associations, malls, auditoriums, hotels and so on.

The bill got approved and all the Tamil Legislators expressed their happiness by thumping their desks.The bill paves way for cancellation of licence of permission granted to such clubs and associations that violate the provisions of the law, besides a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year and fine of up to Rs 25,000. With this incident the unity among Tamil people once again proved and they exhibited their respect on Tamil culture and attires.
