Jaitley blames CBN for delay of Central Funds
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 Feb 2018 5:25 PM GMTCentre has finally responded to the agitation of TDP, YCP and Congress MPs in Parliament over the injustice to Andhra Pradesh in Union Budget 2018. PM Narendra Modi convened a meeting with Union Minister Sujana Chowdary to discuss about the demands of the AP Government. Following which, NaMo directed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to issue a statement in Parliament.
Jaitley reiterated NDA Government is committed to fulfill all the promises of AP Reorganisation Act 2014. He explained Centre preferred Special Package as Special Status isn't possible. 'Till now, We offered Rs 3,900 crore considering the revenue deficit. There is no specific formula for compensating revenue deficit so far...we need to work on it,' he said.
Finance Minister informed the delay in release of funds under the package is because of Chandrababu Naidu's demand to offer them through Nabard. 'If AP obtains funds from Foreign Firms, Centre will be paying 90 percent of the debt. CM sought EAP Funds through Nabard, but such a procedure would affect the borrowing capacity of the state and increases revenue deficit. We are working on it to find a solution. Very soon, Union Finance Secretary will hold talks with AP Finance Secretary to do the needful,' assured Jaitley.
Railway Minister Piyush Goel said Visakha Railway Zone is under consideration and attributes the delay to the exercise to achieve consensus with neighboring states.
