Delhi's BJP MP and former cricker Gautam Gambhir showed his humane side on Thursday when he performed the last rites of his housemaid. His housemaid Saraswati Patra, who takes care of the wellbeing of his children passed away due to diabetes-related ailment. She has been working for over six years in Gautam Gambhir's house.
On knowing that her relatives were finding it difficult to take the body to her native village of Jajpur in Odisha, Gautam Gambhir spoke to her relatives and performed her last rites. 'Taking care of my little one can never be domestic help. She was family. Performing her last rites was my duty. Always believed in dignity irrespective of caste, creed, religion or social status. Only way to create a better society. That's my idea of India! Om Shanti', he tweeted. Many netizens have praised Gauty's humane endeavour and congratulated him for his noble work. Even Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who hails from Odisha, praised the minister.
Gautam Gambhir is known for his strong will and determination. As a cricketer too, he has been quite aggressive and attacking. He has been elected MP from east Delhi constituency defeating Atishi Marlena, who is now a minister in Delhi government.
