GHMC Elections: SEC Challenges HC Orders To Suspend Late-Night Orders On Vote Validation!
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 Dec 2020 7:42 AM GMTWhen the vote-counting process for all the 150 divisions in the Greater Hyderabad region is going on actively, the issue of vote validation has reached the Telangana High Court.
The Telangana High Court shocked the Telangana State Election Commission(SEC) by suspending the late-night circular to consider the ballot papers with other marks than the Swastika stamp as valid votes.
The High Court directed the SEC to see that the information to not consider the votes with other marks as valid votes reach all the counting centers set up across the divisions.
Now, the SEC has moved the High Coury by filing a lunch motion petition against suspending the late-night circular. In the petition, the SEC said Election Commission is an independent body and it's not appreciable that the court intervenes in its power,.
It's interesting to know how the High Court responds to the lunch motion petition. SEC requested the High Court to re-think its decision on suspending the late-night circular.
It is believed that the hearing, in this case, is underway in the High Court. More details are underway.
