GHMC Ignores Kishan Reddy's Visit
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Oct 2020 3:14 AM GMTThe tight grip of the TRS on the administration was there for all to see when no GHMC official was deputed to accompany Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy on his tour of the flood affected and rain-ravaged areas of Hyderabad. When he set out to inspect the nalas and the marooned low-lying colonies, not one of the GHMC official was deputised to aid and accompany him.
A red-faced and angry Kishan Reddy called up GHMC commissioner Lokesh Kumar and sought to know why the protocol due to a union minister was not being followed. He also questioned why most of the officials were kowtowing to KCR and KTR. He pointed out that the officialdom ignoring the union minister was a clear breach of protocol.
On getting an earful from Kishan Reddy, the GHMC commissioner dispatched some officials to accompany him, but the BJP workers were clearly unhappy at the slight. BJP’s official spokesperson Krishna Sagar Rao had slammed the babus for disregarding the protocol. Later, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan materialised on the scene and accompanied the Union Minister for some time.
Significantly, a large part of the rain and flood affected area falls under the Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency, which Kishan Reddy represents. Kishan Reddy expressed displeasure at the way the Nalas and the flood channels were left unattended. He said the contractors, who were supposed to desilt and remove the garbage from the Nalas have pocketed the money and did nothing. As a result, the common man is suffering, he said.
