GHMC Mayor Elections: TRS wins Mayor, Deputy Mayor positions

Keeping an end to long waiting, the Mayor elections of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) were held nearly two months after the election results on Thursday. The polling was held at around 12:30 PM.
The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) has won both Mayor and Deputy Mayor seats. Banjara Hilla Corporator Vijayalaxmi R Gadwal has been elected as Hyderabad Mayor, by defeating BJP candidate Radha Reddy, RK Puram Corporator.
Tarnaka TRS Corporator M. Srilatha Reddy has been elected as the Deputy Mayor of Hyderabad by defeating BJP's nominee Shankar Yadav.
The oath-taking ceremony of the Corporators, who won victoriously in the GHMC elections was held on Thursday morning. Presiding Officer Swetha Mohanthy has conducted the proceedings, while Election Observer Sandeep Kumar Sultania monitored the proceedings
The TRS party has appealed to the Presiding Officer to conduct the oathtaking ceremony as a group rather than individual ceremonies. The other parties have supported the appeal.
In the GHMC elections, the ruling TRS has emerged as the single largest party by bagging 56 divisions. The BJP and AIMIM have managed to win 48 and 44 divisions respectively.
