GHMC mayor says she doesn't want rains

Hyderabad newly-elected Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi seems determined to fritter away all the good will that she has earned by putting her foot-firmly in her mouth once too often. After the unsavoury controversy over the transfer of Shaikpet tehsildar, she has once again raked up a controversy.
In an interview to a mediahouse, she said she would pray to the God that there should be no rains for the coming five years. This crazy wish has left the mediapersons speechless. During the interview, the correspondent asked about the GHMC's preparedness to fight floods. Unable to give a proper reply, she merely said that she was praying to the God that there should be no rains in Hyderabad for at least five years. This means she does not want rains during her terms. This implies that she was OK with drought and water scarcity but not rains. In other words, she has also admitted that the GHMC cannot handle the flood fury.
