Godse Trends On Gandhi Jayanthi In Twitter World

In what could be seen as shock of shocks, Nathuram Godse trended, albeit briefly on a day when Mahatma Gandhu should have trended. On October 2, Godse trended on Twitter for quite some time and over 80000 tweeted under the hashtag #Nathuram Godse Zindabad. Interestingly at least some of the tweets opposing the #hashtag too appeared under the hashtag.
October 2 is Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary. In fact, hashtages celebrating this event dominated throughout the day. But, briefly for a couple of hours, Nathuram Godse, the murderer of Gandhi, trended. The hashtag registered a sudden spike forcing the Twitter to show it up as a top trend. However, by afternoon, the Nathuram Godse hashtage started to taper off.
Twitter analysts said that the Nathuram Godse hashtag began almost an hour before the Mahatma Gandhi hashtag began. Due to this, Godse trended for few hours. As the day passed, Gandhi hashtags began becoming popular. One of the first tweets was from @vishalurl and it was published at 1.50 AM. It got over a 1000 retweets in just about 12 hours.
