As Millions of Indians mourn the demise of beloved former President, Internet search giant Google has paid a special homage to former president by displaying a black ribbon on its homepage.
Google is well known for its colourful and memorable doodles on their homepage but yesterday it put up a simple black ribbon in the memory of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam who passed on July 27. On Google's home page, the black ribbon has been placed and on running the mouse it reads, "In memory of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam".
Google is known for remembering past icons and marking important occasions and anniversaries through its doodle. In the past paid tribute to several Indians, including filmmaker Satyajit Ray, mathematics genius Shakuntala Devi and cine icon Raj Kapoor among others. Thanks Google for respecting the son of our soil.
Meanwhile, the last journey of Kalam began in his hometown today. Andhra Pradesh CM Chandra Babu Naidu had already reached Ramanathapuram to pay his respects to Kalam. PM Narendra Modi and several Union Ministers are also presented at the final rituals.
