Corona News: Government Issues Guidelines For Dead Body Management

In the wake of the novel coronavirus spreading its wings in India with the positive cases getting increased day by day, many doubts and fake news have raised on how to cremate the dead body of the people who have died out of COVID-19.
Following this, the government has issued some guidelines on this to clear all the airs on how to cremate the bodies. The government has named the manuals as the dead body management of COVID-19.
The guidelines state that the friends and family of the person who lost their lives due to COVID-19 can view the dead body but cannot touch the body. They cannot either hug or kiss the deceased.
The embalming of the body will not be allowed and the autopsies of the body should also be avoided. Stringent infection prevention control practices should be practiced if the autopsy process cannot be avoidable.
"Large gathering at the crematorium/burial ground should be avoided as a social distancing measure as it is possible that close family contacts may be symptomatic and have potential to spread the virus" the guidelines read.
Though religious rituals like sprinkling holy water and other last rites were touching the body is not required are allowed by the guidelines, bathing, kissing and hugging of the dead body will not be entertained.
"As the cases are rising and we have also recorded deaths, government has worked on framing the guidelines for handling dead bodies as the disposal of dead bodies has to be proper for preventing further infection," joint secretary, ministry of health and family welfare Lav Agarwal said.
