In the wake of the increase of the positive cases in the state, the Maharashtra government has come up with a brilliant idea to combat the pandemic. The Uddhav Thackeray led government said that from hereafter family members of the COVID patients will not be allowed at the time of the cremation.

The dead bodies will also be not handed over to their family members but the last rites of the deceased will be performed as per their religious belief. This decision was taken to see that the virus is not spread further.

"We will designate an electric crematorium in the city for this purpose, where all the cremations will happen, notwithstanding the place of residence of the family. We are also in talks with the psychiatry department of BJ Medical College so that they can help us with managing the kin of the deceased, who often suffer from shock and trauma due to sudden deaths," Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram said.

So far 24 deaths were reported in Pune while more than 245 positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded and all of them were been treated.
