Governors protocol: IAS lobby caught between Centre, State Govts
X
With both the Governor as well as the Central Government taking a serious view of the repeated protocol violations during Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan's visits to various places, the KCR government is now planning to designate protocol incharges, who would act as government's representatives during the governor's visit.

This is being planned as the collector and the district SP are unable to formally welcome the Governor as par protocol. With the relations between the governor and the state government worsening, the TRS government is asking the top bureaucrats to go on two-day leave. Similar situations prevailed during the Medaram Jatara and Bhadrachalam festivities.

The IAS officers feel that they are being sandwiched by the whims of the state government and the protocol requirements of the Governor. They are worried that they may have to face the music in the days to come. Hence they have reportedly suggested that the government should appoint protocol officers on behalf of the government to avoid confrontation.

They suggest that a similar situation exists in the case of vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu, who visits Hyderabad regularly. The Telangana CM has appointed Home Minister Mahmood Ali as the protocol incharge for the vice-president. Similarly, when Modi came to inaugurate the Samata Murthy statue, Talasani Srinivas Yadav was appointed the protocol officer. Similar arrangement should be made for Governor, the IAS lobby suggested to the chief minister.
