Govt ignored committee recommendations on new districts?

It is now emerging that several of the key recommendations of the state-level committee on the formation of new districts have been ignored while actually carving out the districts. The reports say that the government took arbitrary decision in several cases.

The Committee had suggested that there were several key suggestions as for the name of the new district, its capital and other such issues. It wanted a rational and scientific division of he districts.

But, in all these issues, the key recommendations were given a go bye. The YSRCP had promised to make every MP seat a district in AP. To implement this, a state committee and four sub-committees were formed to advise the government.

One of the key suggestions was that the district headquarters should confirm with the constituency headquarters. However, this recommendation was ignored while carving out various districts.

Sources say that political pressures and electoral considerations have played a key role ignoring several of the decision.

For instance, the committee had recommended that Rajampet should be the district headquarters for Rajampet district. In case of Madanapalle too, the recommendations have said that Madanapalli should be the district headquarters. But this was not followed.

Similar examples about. The same thing happened with Narsapuram and Hindupur districts. All these have now become major issues for hot debates. Had the government followed the recommendations of the report, things would not have become so controversial, say analysts.
