The Court has been hearing petitions on the controversial daily and the hearing on the petitions was also held on Thursday.
During the hearing on Thursday, an advocate representing the Andhra Pradesh government informed the court that the decision to withdraw the Government Order was taken by the government. The advocate added that another affidavit would be filed before the court on how the government will deal with the Grama Mahila Samrakshana Karyadarsi.
The counsel said that the government had decided to withdraw the Government Order and an appropriate decision would be taken on how to utilise the services of the women staff in village and ward secretariats.
The GO was issued in June this year to make the women staff members women police. However, the GO was challenged in the High Court saying that it goes against the rules. Months after issuing the Government Order, the government had announced the decision to withdraw the GO.
