H1-B Visa Curbs have minimal impact on Indians
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 April 2017 6:53 AM GMTNasscom assures latest H-1B Visa guidelines issued by Trump Administration will have a little impact on the Indian IT Firms. The IT Industry Body said the impact is very much manageable as Indian Tech Companies have already begun seeking visas for highly-skilled professionals.
Few days ago, The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USIS) conveyed that it won't tolerate if Americans were discriminated. At the same time, IT Firms seeking H1-B Visas were asked to provide evidence to establish that the particular position is falls under speciality occupation.
Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Microsoft, IBM and Cognizant are the members of Nasscom. The IT Body opined the guidelines issued by USCIS is similar to a memorandum issued in December 2000. It added, It's impossible to scrap H-1B Visa system due to the shortage of highly-skilled Americans. Indian IT Industry gets 60% of the export revenue from US.
USCIS issues 65,000 H-1B visas in general category and additional 20,000 in the higher education category (such as Masters) from US Universities.
