H1b Visas Might Take A Back Step With Biden Administration Focusing On Pending Us Immigrant Visas

Reforming the H-1B Visa system is one of the key promises made by US President Joe Biden during the election campaign. He said, he would increase the limit of H-1B visas.
However, Joe Biden's election promise might take some more time to get fulfilled with the serving President's administration focusing on immigrant visas which are pending in the United States. Reports claimed.
During a press briefing at the White House, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas was asked by the reports on the status of the review of the Trump-era visa bans for H1B visas and whether the White House took any decision to lift these bans.
As a reply to the question, the Secretary said, "You know, I don't really -- I hate to end the questioning on a question, the answer to which I am not certain,". He added that Joe Biden's administration's top priority is to acute needs of individuals fleeing persecution
Adding further, he slammed former President Donald Trump on the impact of the pandemic on the job sector and alleged that Donald Trump has dismantled the immigration system.
Donald Trump made the immigration rules tough during his term and endorsed a merit-based immigration system to safeguard the jobs of Americans. He has also frozen the work visas, he said.
Talking about the decisions, the news administration has taken, the secretary said Joe Biden administration has lifted the ban of a few visas like Muslim Visas and others.
It has to be noted that earlier in February, the new Administration issued orders to revoke the ban imposed by the Donald Trump administration on immigrant visas. However, the Joe Biden administration is yet to take a decision on the H-1B, J-1, and L-1 visas.
The ban imposed on the previous administration will expire on March 31, a few weeks from now. Joe Biden administration said non-immigrant visa cases are not the priority of the administration.
Though the restrictions on visa allotments to people coming from nations like China, Iran, Brazil, UK, Ireland, South Africa, and other nations are effective, the United States has been prioritizing the immigrant visas, barring spouses and kids of US citizens.
