Has proximity to YS Jagan cost CPM state secretary P Madhu dear? Those in the know say yes. P Madhu, a fighter to the core, has been the party's general secretary all these years.But, now he has been replaced by national team member and columnist V Srinivasa Rao. Madhu has been made a special invitee to the state committee.
Madhu, whose full name is Pinnelli Madhusudhana Reddy, has not been in his elements in the last two years. He has not taken up any agitational programme in the last two years. Even on the Amaravati issue, he has not shown the fighting spirit. He was seen as someone who went soft on YS Jagan and as someone who did not question YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's decisions.
The CPM rank and file felt that his approach towards YS Jagan was chiefly responsible for the poor show of the party in the recent local body elections. The party could not win even a single seat and made no impact on the electoral outcomes.
Several media house revealed that Madhu is a distant relative of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. They argue that he did not show any willingness to fight YS Jagan only because of this relation. Some leaders of the party had even lodged complaints against Madhu on the issue. Sources say that it is because of these complaints that he has been sidelined.
