Has Yadadri Narasimha Diety Been Tampered With?
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 Dec 2019 4:23 AM GMTA major controversy raged over the chiselling of the Swayambhu deity Lord Narasimha at Yadradri. There are allegations that the deity, who is considered Swayambhu or sui generis (something that is born on its own and not made by anyone) and making changes to the deity's form and shape is considered sacrilegious.
But, now allegations are abounding that the idol's form has been changed. Yadadri Narasimha is Lakshmi Narasimha, a peaceful deity. But now, there are allegations that it has been artificially transformed into Ugra (angry) Narasimha, which is against the tenets of the temple. In another sacrilege, those who chiselled this against the Agama rules have also taken selfies with the deity of the Lord.
If sources are to be believed, Vaishnava seer Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, who is guiding the temple reconstruction move, is livid at the changes. He sought an explanation from the sculptors and even sent an expert to ascertain the facts. But the temple sculptors showed the deity to him after switching off the lights. This, according to those in the know, confirms that there has been some tampering of the deity's form. But, the sculptors maintained that they did not tamper with the moola virat (the chief deity), but have only scraped the Sindhuram which has got accumulated over the years on the deity.
This could snowball into a major controversy as Yadadri is among the most popular spiritual retreat in the state of Telangana and thousands visit it every day. Already there are lot of controversies over the inordinate delay in the completion of the works. There was also a controversy over etching KCR's face on some temple pillars. The etchings have since been removed.
