The alleged Hathras gang-rape incident in Uttar Pradesh has resulted in a widespread outrage. With the raging outrage, the has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) for a comprehensive investigation.

Now it is believed that CBI has pulled the Hathras rape case FIR hours after putting it on its official website realizing that it might violate the orders of the Supreme Court over such cases.

According to some media reports, in the FIR that was removed from the website, the name of the Hathras victim was named. They have used the whitening ink to conceal the victim's name allegedly.

Back in December 2018, a Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice Madan B Lokur issued directives for the print and electronic media stating that the identity of the rape and sexual assault should not be revealed.

Referring to the First Information Report (FIR) in rape and sexual assault cases including against minors, the apex court said police should not put the reports in the public domain.

A 19-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. The victim sustained serious injuries and succumbed to it on September 29 at a hospital in Delhi.
