Hc Directs Telangana Government To Keep A Cap On Hospital Charges!

The bench of Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy heard a bunch of Public interest litigation (PIL) pleas filed on issues pertaining to Coronavirus.
During the hearing, the High Court directed the state government to take a decision on the capping test charges in private hospitals and asked the hospitals to set prices.
"Issue orders on fixing prices for private hospitals for various tests and hospitalisation for the Covid-19 patients. If the government cannot cap the charges for all the tests, at least the charges for the blood tests and CT chest scan can be capped", Hima Kohli said.
"We are seeing the seriousness of the second wave of Covid. Experts are warning that a third wave might also come and it could have an impact on the children too. What plans are being made to tackle the Covid wave," the bench said.
"Examine the issue of capping prices of tests and beds with all seriousness and take all measures to issue a GO in the matter," Hima Kohli said in the directives issued to the government.
Saying that the state government cannot take any chances on the Covid-19 related matters, the Telangana High Court directed the government to tell its strategy to fight the virus spread.
"By coordinating with the NGOs of the respective districts, community kitchens should be set up so that people, who are in home isolation can be provided food for less cost or for free," the bench said.
Expressing dissatisfaction over fewer Covid tests in the state, the High Court bench has once again ordered the government to submit a detailed report on how many RT PCR and RAT tests were done in the state.
